Actiontec Setup

Before you begin attach the phone filters you received with your modem to all other phone lines in the house except for the one you're plugging the modem into.

1) Install the ethernet network card that came with your modem into your computer. If you already have a ethernet card installed you can skip this step.

2) After you install your Network card click on "Start" then "Settings" then "Control Panel". In the "Control Panel" double click the "Network" icon. In the network settings under "The following network components are installed" double click "TCP/IP". Make sure it is set to "Obtain a IP address automatically" & "Obtain DNS automatically". The menus will vary somewhat by which version of the Windows operating system you have. Shut off your computer before you continue.

3) Plug one end of the yellow ethernet cable into the ethernet card in your computer. Plug the other end into one of the yellow ports on the back of the ActionTec DSL modem.

4) Plug one end of the black phone cable into the phone jack on the wall and the other end into DSL port on the back of the ActionTec modem.

5) Plug in Power cord for the ActionTec DSL modem.

6) Turn on your computer. If it was already on restart it.

7) Once your computer is at the desktop open the Internet Explorer web browser (the big blue "E" icon on the desktop). In the address bar type in 192.168.0.1 and press the enter key on your keyboard. You should get an ActionTec webpage

8) Click on the "Setup / Configuration" link.

9) The next page will be the "Setup Configuration" page. Click on the "Begin Basic Setup" button.

10) On the "Basic Setup" page click on the "Next" button.

11) On the "Broadband Connection" page select "PPPoA". This should be selected already just double check that it is. Click on the "Next" button.

12) On the "DSL Broadband Connection - PPP" page you will need to type in your Znet username with @2z.net at the end of it. For example, DSLznet@2z.net.

Type in your Znet password leave the "Static IP" area blank and click the "Next" button.

13) On the "Save and Restart" page click the "Save and Restart" button. You're ActionTec DSL modem will reboot. Close Internet Explorer. Give the modem 3-5 minutes to complete the restart. After that you should be able to browse the Internet.

14) If you would like to network more then one computer you will need to purchase another network cable (Cat 5) and network card for each computer. Once you have them follow steps #1 through #3 of this FAQ.
