Q:I upgraded to Windows ME and get disconnected
A: Click on Start-Settings-Control Panel. Double click dialup Networking. Click on the Dialing tab. Uncheck "Enable idle disconnection" and uncheck "Disconnection when connection may no longer be needed". Click OK

Q: My computer will disconnect me after about 1 minute
A: check the "hang up after sending and receiving" option in Outlook Express. Open Outlook Express. Click Tools, Options, and the Connection tab. Make sure the "hang up after sending and receiving" box is unchecked.

Q: My computer will disconnect within 30 minutes
A: Things to check for all Windows
1. Go to the Control panel - Internet Options-Connections-Settings-Advanced. Make sure "Disconnect if idle" is unchecked
2. Open Outlook Express - (I have never found a disconnect if idle option in Netscape.)
Click Tools-Options-Connections. Make sure "hang up after sending and receiving" is not checked
3. Check in Outlook for any connections that may be calling the old dialup connection. Open Outlook Express Click Tools-Accounts-All. Under the connections column, it should say either Znet or Any Available
Win95 only
1. Check in the Control Panel-Modems-Connection. Their sometimes is a "disconnect if idle" here.
Check the modem - if you are unsure on how to do these instructions, contact your computer manufacturer or contact Znet Technical Support
1. update drivers
2. check for strings-preferred V.90
3. if they live out of town - drop the protocols to V.34 using the strings.
4. bring down the connection speed to 57600 or lower
Win ME
1. under the Properties of the dialup connection, click the last tab Dial, there is an idle time before disconnect. Also uncheck "disconnect if connection is no longer needed"By default, it is checked.

Q: I can not save my password, the box is grayed out.
A: Click Start-Log Off. This brings you to a Windows login screen. Take out the user name and enter a different name and leave the password blank. Click OK and it will ask you to confirm the password, leave both of the lines blank. Click OK

Q. My homepage has changed suddenly and my computer
is running slower
A. It is possible that your computer has been hijacked by a malicious program. These programs are usually downloaded by visiting certain sites or bundled with free programs. To remove these programs, we have had a lot of success with Ad-Aware. It is a free program from Lavasoft. You can download it from www.ad-aware.com.

With your Internet access account, you have a 10MB website for your personal use. To setup the site, please call our office with a site name and password that you would like.

After your account is setup. You can access your site with an FTP program.

Once you connect to the server, the folder that you are in is your publishing folder. Anything in this folder can be accessed from the Internet, please be careful what you put here. please read our Term of Agreement and the Rules of Conduct pertaining to what you can put on your website.

Personal websites do not support CGI scripts, FrontPage extensions, or Server Side Include scripts

 

Business/Domain Website

With your Business Hosting Package, you have 50MB of space and up to 25 email accounts. To setup the hosting, please call our office for help in moving or registering your domain name 888-508-9638.

After the domain name is finished and the account is set up on our server, here is the information to access the server.

Host name: your domain name
username: (what you had chosen)
password: (what you had chosen)

My Computer is running slower

Your computer is probably infected with a virus or spyware software. Spyware is becoming more prevalent in recent months. Virus scanners and firewalls may not protect you from these threats.

How to protect yourself

The most important step is to to keep updated on your Windows Updates. If you are running WindowsXP, have your computer set to automatically download and install the updates. Microsoft also has a new software that you can download, it is called Microsoft Anti-Spyware and you can get it at www.microsoft.com. These program only works with WindowsXP.

If you do not have WindowsXP, you can download Ad-Aware from Snapfiles.com
